The research work to be carried out in the laboratory will focus on the characterization of nanothermites combustion. The project has two components:
-(i) characterizing the ignition conditions of these nanothermites by laser ignition; and
-(ii) identifying the combustion regimes following their ignition.
The candidate shall conduct laser ignition and combustion characterization experiments through rapid imaging in the NC2V High Pressure facility. He will have to take charge of the analysis of the reaction products by SEM, MET, ...

At the CNRS,located on the CNRS campus in Orléans, at the ICARE UPR3021 laboratory,with 80 employees , the candidate will be responsible for conducting experimental work on the combustion of nanothermites as part of an ANR-ASTRID, SYTCOM project. The project is being carried out in the "Shock Waves" team led by N. Chaumeix. The SYTCOM project aims to produce, through a reasoned design, nanothermites of controlled metal-oxide architecture and interface using robust processes that can be applied to industrial production. The ambitious objective of this project is to guarantee stable behavior and performance and to increase the reaction rates of these new compounds.

The SYTCOM project is being carried out in collaboration with ENSTA-ParisTech and Mines-ParisTech as part of a program supported by ANR-ASTRID. The research work will be carried out at the ICARE laboratory, a full-body CNRS laboratory in Orléans, as part of the "Shock Waves" team.
The experimental facility consists of a high-pressure chamber for the study of nanothermites combustion (HP-NC2V) coupled with a laser ignition device and a rapid visualization system.

Eligibility criteria

the candidate must have a PhD in Combustion, Nanotechnology.
Strong knowledge in nanometric materials diagnostics, optical/laser diagnostics.
the candidate must have :
- Competence in scientific digital tools: Matlab, Python, Labview
- Language proficiency: fluent English ( "Shock Waves" team is international
- Ability to work in a team on multi-disciplinary projects
- Writing skills: Synthesis reports, publications in international journals and international conferences
