IPVF - Institut Photovoltaïque d’Île-de-France, is a global Research, Innovation and Education center, which mission is to accelerate energy transition through science & technology.
Gathering industrial PV leaders (EDF, Total, Air Liquide, Horiba and Riber) and world-renowned academic research teams (CNRS, Ecole Polytechnique), multi-disciplinary and international IPVF teams conduct research for clean energy technologies.
IPVF at a glance:
- An ambitious Scientific and Technological Program: from tandem solar cell technologies to economy & market assessment, state-of-the art characterization, photocatalysis and concepts breakthrough.
- A state-of-the-art technological platform: more than 100 tools, located in cleanrooms (advanced characterization, materials deposition, prototypes for fabrication, modelling…).
- A high-standard Education program (M.S. and PhD students).
IPVF Technological Platform owns and operates more than a hundred state-of-the-art equipment.
These equipments allow to:
- Develop materials with photoelectric properties. Many physical and chemical routes are available.
- Assemble these materials into photovoltaic cells and modules. This involves modifying the properties of the materials as required, and adding functional layers (anti-reflection, light trapping, collection of electrical charges, etc.).
- Integrate the devices into demonstrators. This consists in the development of demonstrators for a new use of photovoltaic energy.
- Characterize these materials and devices (optical, electrical, chemical, morphological...).
These experimental equipments are complemented by significant and varied modelling tools, thus accelerating the development of high-performance photovoltaic devices.
The Equipment Division Manager – Chemistry will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Main tasks and responsabilities:
1. Assign the equipment pool (electrochemistry, slot-dies, spin-coaters, wetbenches, gloveboxes…) in line with the Equipment Manager (EM) skills.
2. Create the equipment corpus of documents (operating instructions, safety instructions, risks analysis, inspection procedures for good operational conditions, …) by ensuring a straightforward and practical accessibility to skilled users.
3. Ensuring that users are properly trained (initial training and periodic renewals).
4. Setup with the EM a quality control and preventive maintenance schedule for each equipment. List the stocks of critical parts for the continuity of operations. Manage troobleshooting/repairs as soon as possible by calling upon specialized service providers if necessary (contracts to create).
5. Setup a follow-up of each equipment with operating rates and key performance indicators (certified reference materials, regular controls of the properties, reference samples to check the accuracy of the measuring instruments, …).
6. Provide researchers with a catalogue of robust and reproducible recipes, optimized processes and functional materials.
7. Coordinate with the EM service provisions (such as the manufacturing of materials on demand) for external companies.
8. Ensure stock and chemical management (low-level products re-ordering…).
9. Organize division and team meetings to discuss any difficulties encountered, equipment planning, best practices, etc.
10. Provide expertise on the various equipment and on cleanroom in general: constraints (water, special gases, …), assistance in drafting specifications and installations of new equipment (including commissioning).

- PhD in chemistry, physical chemistry or materials science.
- Strong knowledge in materials chemistry.
- Knowledge in wet processes applied to PV would be a plus.
- 5+ year experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of cleanroom environments.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Good organizational skills.
- Autonomous, dynamic and rigorous.
- Team spirit.
- Creativity and innovation.
- English and intermediate level in French are mandatory.
