The Plant Molecular Cell Biology Division (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Frank) of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich invites applications for a

PhD position (TV-L E13, 65%)

“Regulation of MicroRNA Biogenesis in early Land Plants”

Our research focuses on the biogenesis and function of non-coding RNAs and the investigation of molecular mechanisms underlying abiotic stress adaptation (for further information: https://www.botanik.bio.lmu.de/forschung/frank/index.html). This project is funded by the German Research Foundation Priority Programme “MAdLand – Molecular Adaptation to Land: Plant Evolution to Change” (SPP 2237). This Priority Programme aims to unravel the genetic mechanisms underpinning the dramatic environmental adaptation to life conditions on land and the evolution of plant complexity by a novel comparative and functional evolutionary approach. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who will work on the miRNA biogenesis that is crucial for stress adaptation in Physcomitrella patens (moss) and Marchantia polymorpha (liverwort).

The position is available for a 3-year period for applicants holding a relevant master's degree (or equivalent). Interested and motivated applicants should have a background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics.

We are located at the LMU Biocenter on the High Tech Campus Martinsried offering a well-equipped, interactive and stimulating research environment. When you are interested in joining our team send your application (including a motivation letter, CV, certificates, summary of your Master thesis, contact details of two referees) as a single PDF file in English or German to Dr. Oguz Top at oguz.top@lmu.de. The job will be advertised until the position has been successfully filled.

LMU Munich is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through diversity and, therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. Disabled applicants with essentially equal qualifications will be given preference.
