The group “Metabolic Interventions for Healthy Aging” leading by Dr./Prof Alejandro Martín-Montalvo at the CABIMER in Seville (Spain) is interested in hosting a Marie Curie Fellowship.
Dr. / Prof Alejandro Martín-Montalvo has been working in Aging Research (Molecular mechanism s of Aging and translational research on aging for more than 15 years). During his career Dr. Martín-Montalvo has participated in more than 50 research publications and more than 15 research projects funded by prestigious research agencies. His research articles have been cited more than 4300 times, with an H-index of 24.)
CABIMER is a groundbreaking multidisciplinary biomedical research centre in Andalusia drawing together basic and applied research. The center is a joint venture of the regional government, the University of Sevilla and Pablo Olavide and CSIC. The Institute occupies a building of over 9,000 square meters equipped with the latest scientific technology and is in close proximity to two university hospitals: Macarena and Virgen del Rocio. The building harbors 20 laboratories divided into 3 Departments: Genome Biology, Cell Dynamic and Signaling, Cell Regeneration and Advanced Therapies. Ten Core Facilities (Biological Resources, Cytometry and Sorter, Cell Culture, Genomic, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Histology, Microscopy, Model Organisms, Isotopes and Washing) accommodate the workload of approximately 200 professional researchers.
Description of the group:
The overall research goal Dr. Martín-Montalvo focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that control aging processes and to design novel metabolic interventions that could delay aging and promote a healthy lifespan. The long-term goal is to translate this fundamental research to the clinic. For more information see: http://www.cabimer.es/web3/en/alejandro-martinmontalvo/
Description of the project:
• Objective 1: Understanding the molecular mechanisms of maximal healthspan and lifespan.
• Objective 2: Translational research on molecular strategies to extend healthspan and lifespan.
Description Principal Investigator:
Dr. Martín-Montalvo completed his PhD in biotechnology at the University Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain). He then moved to the United States of America in 2009 where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health of the USA. He moved back to Spain to join CABIMER in 2014 to lead a research programme on aging research.
